Well, I'm not a good blogger...

It's been months and months since I've posted. I think I'm better at spending time quilting and reading others blogs. I completely enjoy keeping up with what everyone else is up to. I am inspired daily by the lovely quilts that I see, and by the wonderful stories of quilting life. I think I'll just post pictures occasionally of the quilts that I manage to complete and be happy with that.

This one is just a flimsy right now, but is in the pile that I need to quilt. It is Kaffe Fassett's pattern and fabrics - Diagonal Madness. This quilt is one of my favorites and the fabrics have been waiting patiently for me to get to them for the longest time. I'm quilting Mexican Party right now, then I think I will do this one:)

A Quilt For One Of My Daughters

I have two daughters. On this earth there cannot be two more different sisters. One embraces all things pink and fluffy, shiny and sparkly, feminine and fancy. The other loves the outdoors - goes mudding, loves camping and horses. She has no issue cleaning stables or any other sweat-inducing, dirt covered activity. They occasionally make forays into each others' activities, but they are totally unique and wonderful people.

This weekend I had occasion to go visit my younger daughter. While there, I finally got a photo of the quilt I made for her college graduation several years ago. While the picture was taken outside, it was rather windy and this was the best shot of the quilt not blowing in the wind.

The pattern for this quilt is "Horsin' Around" by June Jaeger. This was a ton of fun to make and it suits my daughter to a 
tee. I got to dig into my batik stash and had a good excuse to add some to it as well. There is a lot of free motion quilting in 
the appliqué blocks and straight line quilting in the blocks as well as in the ditch along the sashing. My daughter loves this quilt and of course, that is the most important thing. 

My daughter is now in law school and these are her "babies" for the time being, and I think they are well represented in this quilt. 

Now I need to find an appliqué pattern with purses and shoes, lipsticks and make-up high-end fashions that

A Long Time Overdue...

I am a huge fan of Kaffe Fassett and love the uproarious colors and energy of his quilts and other projects. I love his needlepoint work and have the canvasses for many of them, including two rugs. They're huge projects, but sadly right now, my big rug-size needlepoint floor frame is a resting spot for three quilt WIP's that I need to get quilted. When they are done, I will get the big turtle rug on the frame and get to it...

 I also have the fabric ready to go for several of his quilts, but for some reason, I seem to move into other projects and not get to these. I have made it a personal goal to get all of these quilts made - alternating with other, newer projects that have drawn my attention away. 


Ages ago, I collected the fabrics to make his Diagonal Madness quilt and Finally, Finally got the fabric all cut this week.  Usually, I like to interpret Mr. Fassett's quilt patterns in my own fabric choices, however, this particular quilt awed me in the original fabrics so I chose to use those.  So, now the piecing begins...

There are so many wonderful projects out there to start / work on / finish up - sometimes it's hard to
decide what to do next...

Just a little bit of my stash

Just starting out.

So I've decided to start a blog - with much fanfare from my daughters - for whom doing things online is a piece of cake. I, on the other hand, am completely technologically disabled. This will be a learning experience for me. I love to quilt and I have spent way too many hours perusing quilt blogs and enjoying all the lovely photos, tutorials and general good- natured camaraderie of the quilting community. I have enjoyed every minute and want to join in.

It will take me a bit to get into the swing of this and learn to add photos and make this blog a little bit representative of who I am. So please bear with me and in time, I'm sure I'll figure this out. Hopefully I'll manage to post something that will be of interest or enjoyment to other quilters out there. I don't have a great camera, so apologies in advance for picture quality. Patience with me please and if I post anything that I shouldn't - copyright wise or otherwise - please let me know. And any advice is always appreciated.

Now let me go see if I can figure this blogging thing out...:)
